Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-12 · Effective: 2026-06-12

1. Who this applies to

This Privacy Policy explains how Palandy Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Palandy,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use palandy.com and our services (the “Service”). It works alongside our Terms of Service. Palandy operates in the United States; your information is processed and stored in the U.S.

By using Palandy you agree to this Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. The information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address and phone number, plus your age attestation (your confirmation at signup that you are 18 or older) and a record of your acceptance of the Terms and this Policy. When you accept terms on Palandy — including skill- or task-specific terms — we record your IP address, browser and device information (user agent), the date and time of acceptance, and the versions of the documents you accepted. This covers your acceptance of the Terms and this Policy at signup (and any future re-acceptance), and any additional terms you accept for a specific skill or task. We keep these records for legal-record and security purposes. (We store your phone number in hashed form for verification and matching; we don't keep it as plain readable text where avoidable.)
  • Profile: your first name and last initial, an approximate neighborhood/area, and an optional short bio.
  • Location: an approximate neighborhood for matching, and — where you provide or enable it — more precise coordinates to find nearby tasks and neighbors. (Location is self-reported— you enter or choose it. We use it to estimate distance and show an approximate area; we don't independently verify where you live or how close two neighbors actually are.)
  • Content: tasks you post or respond to, messages, and the ratings/reviews you give and receive.

Information we collect automatically

  • Usage & device data: basic analytics about how you use the Service (pages viewed, actions taken, approximate device/browser info), via a privacy-focused analytics provider.
  • Cookies / similar technologies: for keeping you signed in and understanding product usage. You can control cookies through your browser; some features may not work without them.

What we try hard NOT to collect:we don't need your full home address, government ID, or financial/payment information — because no money moves through Palandy(see Terms, Section 4). Please don't send us payment details; we don't process payments.

3. The reveal-at-match model — our core privacy design

Your exact details stay hidden until you choose to connect

Before you match with a neighbor (pre-match), other users see only:

  • your first name and last initial(e.g., “Mehmet T.”), and
  • your approximate neighborhood/area — not your exact location.

They do not see your exact address, phone number, email, or precise coordinates.

After you and a neighbor mutually match on a task (post-match):

  • the contact details needed to coordinatethat task (such as the contact method you've chosen to share) become available to the matched neighbor, so the two of you can arrange the help directly.

In other words, your precise, contactable information is revealed only at the moment a connection is mutually established, and only to the neighbor you've matched with — not to the wider community, and not before. This is privacy-by-design: the default is concealment, and disclosure is deliberate and limited.

4. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • create and run your account and authenticate you;
  • match neighbors with relevant nearby tasks and show appropriate profile information at the right stage (pre-match vs. post-match);
  • enable messaging, ratings, and reputation;
  • moderate the community, enforce our Terms, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the Service safe;
  • understand and improve how the Service works (analytics);
  • communicate with you about your account, tasks, and important service or legal notices.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

5. How information is shared

With other neighbors — per the reveal-at-match model in Section 3 (limited info pre-match; coordination details post-match).

With service providers (processors) who help us run Palandy — only as needed to operate the Service, and under obligations to protect your data. By category, these include:

  • Hosting & database: Supabase (account and app data) and Vercel (web hosting);
  • Maps / location: Mapbox (turning location into nearby matches);
  • Email / notifications: Resend (sending account and service messages);
  • Analytics: PostHog (understanding product usage).

These providers process data on our behalf; they aren't permitted to use it for their own purposes. We'll keep this list updated as our providers change.

For legal and safety reasons — if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the public, or Palandy.

In a business transfer — if Palandy is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

We do not share your information with data brokers or sell it to advertisers.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After you close your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 90 days (copies in routine backups are purged within a further 90 days), except where we need to retain certain data to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or maintain the integrity of the reputation system — for example, ratings and reviews tied to a closed account are retained in de-identifiedform so the community's reputation history stays honest. Server and security logs are kept for up to 12 months.

If you delete your account, we may retain your acceptance records (see Section 2 — including acceptance of skill- or task-specific terms) for up to 7 years after deletion where necessary to establish or defend legal claims. We may delete them sooner.

7. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • access, review, and update your profile information in the app;
  • request a copy of your personal information;
  • request correction or deletion of your personal information;
  • close your account at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) or other U.S. state privacy laws — including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (note: we don't sell or share for cross-context advertising). We honor these rights regardless of where you live, to the extent practical. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC)signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of “sale” or “sharing” — though since we don't sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of in practice. To make a request, contact us at support@palandy.com. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information (such as encryption in transit, hashing of sensitive identifiers like phone numbers, and access controls). No system is perfectly secure, however, and we can't guarantee absolute security. Please help by keeping your login credentials safe.

9. Children's privacy

Palandy is intended for adults. The Service is not directed to children, and you must be at least 18 years old to use it. When you create an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older; we do not allow account creation without that confirmation. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 (or under 13 in any event, which would trigger COPPA). If we learn we've collected information from someone underage, we'll delete the account and the associated personal information promptly. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us at support@palandy.com.

Someone under 18 may appear as the subject of a task (for example, a tutoring learner) only where task-specific terms allow it, with a parent or guardian holding the account; in that case the information about the task is provided by, and under the control of, the parent or guardian.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as Palandy evolves (and we're in beta, so it will evolve). If we make material changes, we'll post the updated Policy with a new date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
